Echo string trimmers using two-cycle motors require a mixture of gas and oil to keep the motor lubricated while it is running. Mixing the gas elements in the proper proportions is essential. If the blend ratio is oil-rich, the search motor performs badly; and when the combination is more oil-lean, the motor can seize.
Acceptable Gas and Oil
To be able to reduce engine problems, Echo recommends using 89 Octane gas, which is the center dispenser on most self explanatory gas pumps. The gas should contain a maximum of 10 percent ethanol. Because ethanol burns hotter than gasoline, but it is best to avoid ethanol additives altogether. Any standard two-cycle motor oil is acceptable, and Echo markets Power BlendX, which it advocates for all the motors it manufactures.
Mixing Ratio
Should you use Power BlendX petroleum — or an equal product — mixing it with gasoline at a ratio of 50 parts gasoline to 1 part oil is acceptable for almost any Echo product, even if the manual specifies another mixing ratio. To achieve this ratio, then add 2.6 ounces of oil to each gallon of gas. Agitate the mixture well before using it.
