Guest Picks: Pipe Up for a Crisp Look

Charles Eames said,”The details are not the details. They make the design.” He couldn’t have been more appropriate. The tiniest extra touch can change a space. If you’re in the mood for a clean and crisp update to your existing furniture or a distinctive new addition, I highly recommend piping a bit in a contrasting trim. Piping can bring in greater colour, introduce a new colour, or pull all the colours together in a space. I’ve rounded up my favorite little pieces (even one for your puppy ) here for you. Emily Ruddo

I like to pipe solids on solids for a polished appearance. Emily Ruddo went with a bold pink white piping on her dining chairs and a neutral appearance with a cream settee with dark piping within this living area.

PLANTATION

Roma Sofa

My favorite look is navy with a white trim. It only pops.

This matching chair and ottoman coordinate seamlessly together with the black and white at the zebra skin rug.

Kathleen DiPaolo Designs

Who could resist this mixture of piping and pattern on a headboard?

The Marilyn Lounge Chair, Pink – $675

A friend of mine, Roxy Owens, includes a line of custom upholstered pieces with options to pipe them. This white and pink number could look adorable in a girls’ room.

Chic Shop

Ocean Oblong Pillow – $270

Pick a colour that contrasts but coordinates. Yes, I am serious. The navy frames this pillow and brings out the colour in the logo.

Amazon

Lily Glider Chair, Navy Piping – $1,099

A nursery glider is a new mom’s sanctuary, so there is all the more reason to really go the extra mile and include a contrasting trim that brings the whole room together.

Bella Lino

Monogrammed Bath Towels With Piped Border – $79

Bring colour to the bathroom with trimmed linens.

Crate&Barrel

Barrington Sofa, Kyle Charcoal – $1,699

This couch is sleek, sophisticated and readily available at Crate & Barrel.

Serena & Lily

Upholstered Parker X-Bench, White Canvas With Lemon Linen Piping – $750

Most of us know and love the X-bench. It can be piped also to get a fun splash of colour in the foot of a bed or in a living room.

oomph

Slipper Chair Upholstered – $1,430

White with navy adds a crisp nautical vibe. I’d use two of these to flank a credenza or console desk.

Etsy

Green Silk Pillow by Studio Tullia

Throw pillows are the easiest way to try out something out. This set would make great starters.

Serena & Lily

Hayes Glider, Pale Aqua Twill With White Twill Piping – $1,095

This really is so quite that I believe I would add it to a corner at a living room to get a soothing place to see a book.

Crate&Barrel

Barrington Ottoman and a Half, Normandy – $599

This ottoman and a half is great for the foot of the bed.

Society Social

Bow-Back Piper – $249

I usually try to keep up a how-to tone in my Guest Picks, however I am just plain in love with this parson’s seat. My dining area may need a couple.

William Yeoward

Geoffrey Chair

This contrasting trim looks so sharp.

West Elm

Cotton Velvet Duo Pillow Cover – $34

Velvet-trimmed cushions bring rich feel into a space.

Serena & Lily

Cayenne Cadiz Placemat – $78

For the holidays or for pleasure, a piped placemat is really a do.

Jonathan Adler

Orange Piped Bath Towel – $44

These bath linens have the perfect amount of tangerine to develop to a powder area without going overboard using colour.

Chic Shop

Dog Bed, Flax With Orange Trim – $330

The dog bed can be piped with a contrasting trim.
