Design Ideas for a Teen Boy’s Room

Designing for a teenage boy is much simpler than it sounds. Before you dismiss my theory because I used the words”teenage boy” and”simpler” in the exact same sentence, consider this caveat: A thriving design comes about when you observe how he resides in the space, consider his pursuits and ask engaging questions — but very few questions.

Adults frequently get a bad rap when it comes to teenagers because they think we just don’t understand. Show them that you have been paying attention and win a few cool points in the procedure.

Within this ideabook I provide 8 character types and ideas for designing the ideal room for the teenager in your life. If your teen’s personality isn’t listed here, please add it to the Comments section!

Kelly Porter

The Musician. This unisex colour palette of mint green and colour is one you don’t often see quite often but it’s also what makes it so refreshing. Like most creative forms, your melody-maker will appreciate any effort in enhancing the appearance of his room, particularly when you give thought to where he could keep his musical instruments.

The Thinker. Carve a quiet place in the room, complete with desk, corkboard walls, along with an inspiring view for your scholastic achiever. Having a dedicated area to plan his next big move is a dream come true.

The Entertainer. When it seems just like the area’s most common tween lives under your roof, then he probably does. Give him space in his room to entertain friends, whether it’s solely for the day or for a sleepover. A bunk bed serves double duty as a couch, and the dual desks are fantastic for intense study sessions. When he becomes a teenager, just eliminate the toys and the room functions exactly the same.

DIVA INTERIOR CONCEPTS

The Athlete. This tennis-inspired room takes focus and determination to another degree. If you are raising a winner, then allow him to display his accomplishments together with other inspiration items which help him to fortify his thoughts, also.

Cynthia Prizant – Prizant Design, LLC

The Extremist. If he had been the designer, tire tracks would cover your walls. Fortunately these high-resolution photos are awesome enough to keep his brakes firmly on the ground. An uncomplicated colour palette of black, white, using a jolt of red makes it easy to find new coordinating accessories.

Michelle Salz-Smith, ASID, CID, NCIDQ

The Mellow Fellow. Even though you reside in the city’s center, your teen has the trendy mood of an islander. Easy moving and self-composed at all times, he’d rather surf the waves than the internet. Maintain his room crisp and vibrant, with an ounce of restraint. Throw in a funky accessory like this trendy light bulb lamp lamp to symbolize his pleasure side.

Harrell Remodeling, Inc..

The Neat Freak. Tightly tucked and pulled together, this young guy will be somewhat of an anomaly within his age category. Inform your child about how he likes to arrange his belongings to provide the ideal balance of open and closed storage.

Tobi Fairley Interior Design

The Dapper Dude. For the young trendsetter, make a mature area unlike any other teen room. With a handsome palette of heather gray coupled with an earthy plaid duvet accented with none aside from a monogrammed pillow, his appreciation of your design sensibilities won’t go undetected.
